Tour to Lake Kol-Suu

During this tour you’ll enjoy beauties of the unique alpine lakes – Song-Kol and Kol-Suu. We’ll spend nights in national yurts on the lakeside, taste delicious Kyrgyz cuisine, go horse riding, will see traditional horseback games and falconry. This trip will pass through picturesque places and historical sites.

Day 1 Bishkek - Song-Kol

Day 8 Departure 

Day 1 Bishkek - Song-Kol

Meeting at the airport. After breakfast,a drive to the beautiful mountain lake - Song-Kol. Picnic along the way. This area has great photo and video opportunities. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and scenery. In the evening we'll arrive at Lake Song-Kol. Before dinner you can watch a demonstration of the national horse games. Overnight in a yurt at the lake.

Day 2 Song-Kol - Tash Rabat

After breakfast we'll drive up the mountains and will see a panoramic view of the entire lake. A drive to Tash Rabat –a historic monument founded by monks in the 10th century. In the heyday of the Silk Road,Tash Rabat lost its religious significance and served as a monastic hotel, i.e. – a caravanserai, surrounded by mountain ranges. Picnic on the way. Travel through mountain passes. For dinner, try some national cuisine and spend the night in yurts. Bath upon request.

Day 3 Tash-Rabat – Lake Kol-Suu

Breakfast . Check out the picturesque alpine lake Kol-Suu in southeastern Kyrgyzstan, near the Chinese border. It’s located at an altitude of 3400 m above sea level in the Kokshaal-Too mountain range (Valley of the Kok- Kiya River basin in Ak-Sai ). Lake Kol-Suu is surrounded by steep cliffs on every side with lots of caves, pits and a small stone island. To fully enjoy the spectacular view of the lake, a boat ride is recommended. Lunch on the road in the countryside. Boating on the lake as well as horseback riding is available. Dinner at the lake.Overnight in tents.

Day 4 Kol-Suu - Naryn - Kichi Naryn

Breakfast. Check out the Kichi Naryn Gorge. Lunch at a cafe in Naryn. Drive along the Naryn River, crossing some small passes. Arrive at the thermal springs. Coffee break on the way. Arrive in Kichi Naryn in the evening. Dinner on the bank of the river. Overnight in tents.

Day 5 Kichi Naryn - Karakol

Drive through Karakol Tosor Pass (or Bokonbaevo depending on weather conditions). Stop along the way for a picnic near a mountain stream. Drive to the pearl of Kyrgyzstan, Lake Issyk Kul,which is full of color. You can take some beautiful pictures and videos here. Also see some ancient falconry. Arrive in Karakol by evening. Eat dinner. Accommodation at a hotel.

Day 6.Karakol - Cholpon-Ata

After breakfast drive to Cholpon-Ata through picturesque gorges:Grigorievka and Semenovka. There you can visit three magnificent mountain lakes. Eat lunch outside near the lake. Here you can buy eco-friendly healing honey collected in the highlands. In Cholpon Ata we will explore some ancient rock paintings (petroglyphs, 2000 BC - 4th century BC), located in an "open-air museum." Arrive at the guest house by evening. Eat dinner.

Day 7.Cholpon Ata - Bishkek

Eat breakfast. Transfer to Bishkek. For fans of extreme sports there’s rafting available (down the mountain river). Lunch at the cafe down the road.  On the way to Bishkek we will visit the medieval settlement ofBalasagun and see Burana Tower as well as some stone sculptures. Arrive in Bishkek. Visit the oriental bazaar. Farewell dinner. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8.Departure home.

Transfer to the airport.

If there are high water levels inthe river on the way to Lake Kol Suu and vehicles cannot pass, customers and equipment will cross via horseback.

Recommendations for travelers:

The climate in Kyrgyzstan is continental, and the temperature in the mountains during different parts of the day can range from + 30 to -15 degrees Celsius, so we encourage travelers to bring warm shoes, warm clothing, sunscreen and sunglasses, as well as individual sleeping bags.
